View out across Newcastle Bay

The views from the apartment are wonderful at any time of day and at any time of the year. These photos have all been taken in September. As the year progresses we will add more to show the area in all seasons. The water is only 10-15 metres away when the tide  comes in - and in the winter the spray can splash right up on to the promenade. Absolutely fabulous to watch - and exhilarating to walk through!!

View to the right and to the Mourne Mountains

This year we had lots of wildlife on show. Sometimes a seal made it's way along the front. We had a family of ducks who stole the show every afternoon, trying to make their way over the rocks! - and every year we seem to have a resident heron who stands out on the wooden posts. We also have an otter that appears from time to time to play in the water.

The tide going out

September was a fine month this year. We had many sunny days - sometimes better than July and August! The weather in Newcastle varies from year to year. April, May, June and September can be very enjoyable. We listen to the weather forecasts but even they can get it wrong from day to day! Even if the weather is wet there is still lots to do in the area and we have found that even on wet days you can still sit out on the terrace as it is quite sheltered(obviously depends on the direction of wind!) - or simply relax in a cosy, comfy armchair by the window and watch the world go by.
